Quora: How do I uncover fake people around me? So strange that they fake act as soon as I came in, but I can see right through that. I'm so pissed. Why are they acting fake?

https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-uncover-fake-people-around-me-So-strange-that-they-fake-act-as-soon-as-I-came-in-but-I-can-see-right-through-that-Im-so-pissed-Why-are-they-acting-fake?ch=10&share=5d8e3434&srid=u4smXE

It’s better to be polite than to be rude. Maybe they don’t know they’re coming across as fake and they're just trying (although it shows) to be friendly and upbeat. Don’t be paranoid.

Quora: Why is Christianity so poor at convincing me that God exists?

https://www.quora.com/Why-is-Christianity-so-poor-at-convincing-me-that-God-exists/answer/Iridescent-Rae?ch=10&share=3fe95005&srid=u4smXE

Because you have to have faith.

You could point at the miracle of childbirth, the feeling of doing something good for others, etc. as the reason you believe in God. But if you don’t have faith, you won’t be able to out-argue other viewpoints.

You might even believe that God put dinosaur bones on Earth to test our faith. You might believe that simulation theory was created to bring back good behavior and show that a God or creator can exist, even both can exist simultaneously, one bubble of consciousness within another. It might be God’s second coming.

The Bible teaches us to have faith. Without it, I’m not sure it can even be interpreted and practiced properly. Who are you praying to if you don’t have faith? Remember that science and faith are not contradictory ideas. There’s still a lot of science that’s still in the theoretical stage like string theory, but scientists believe it exists because the equations work. They have faith even though it calls for them to accept some pretty outrageous ideas about the makeup of the universe. So does Christianity. But, all scientific odds and variables aside, what do you believe? In your heart?

Try going to church and praying. Pray to God to give you faith. Talk to your pastor or priest. Everyone’s faith wavers at some point. It’s almost part of growing up.

Remember that faith isn’t asking you to put science aside and accept something that no one else in the world believes in but you. Christianity is a well-known world religion, and many people died to ensure that the citizens of the world would get converted and end up in heaven. Even if your only reason for staying Christian is to have that maybe-ticket to heaven, remember that science and faith intertwine and maybe a spot in Heaven looks subconsciously enticing for multiple good and not-so-good reasons. Jesus knew that and told us about it anyway. Maybe he thought you should know before you make your decision. They say that everything is part of a plan. God’s plan. We might have free will, we might not, but go ahead and do what you think is right, even if it seems selfish on the surface because of your current crisis of faith.

Quora: What can I do if I’m being bullied?

https://www.quora.com/What-can-I-do-if-people-bully-me?ch=10&share=9e2086fb&srid=u4smXE

Change schools. Learn to wear clothes and carry yourself in a way that doesn’t make you a target. Don’t break any laws or ethical rules in terms of protecting yourself, but you are allowed to defend yourself if something happens. There’s always a chance he’ll have a weapon or he’ll just get revenge on you later, so it’s best to just let him bully you. Carry extra money (no coins, just bills, they make your shoe bulky and heavy and it’s obvious you’re hiding something) and learn to eat a heavy breakfast and something as soon as you come home from school. But seriously, ask your parents if you can change schools. You don’t want the bully and/or his friends getting revenge on whatever martial art you’re thinking of doing on him. Plus, that sh*t only works in movies. Those people practice getting hit over and over and over again and they come out perfectly fine. Know why? Because getting hit doesn’t always knock someone out. Even then, unless you kill them (and you probably shouldn’t. A self-defense plea only gets you so far. Study the law), they can always come back and get you physically or mentally and emotionally (a lot of people end up killing themselves because of the emotional torment of having to deal with it everyday). Just avoid them as much as possible (change the way you get to class and, again, try transferring schools) and try not to get yourself in any extra trouble. If you think changing routes will just make him mad if he finds out, don’t do it. Just deal with it until you grow up and go to college. Go somewhere far away. You’ll get to start over and no one will know you were bullied unless you write about it in your admissions essay or something. Look forward to the rest of your life and realize that everyone splits their time up into working, resting, and playing, and we can’t always spend our time the way we want. You’re just dividing your life up in a different way, the way a pre-med student does when they realize they need to go to medical school and do a residency internship before becoming a regular doctor with a regular doctor’s salary and hours. Don’t go crazy in college. Use your free time now to study and make yourself look attractive in your college application. Volunteer, volunteer, volunteer. Think breadth and depth in your extracurriculars. Show that you are becoming a more perfect person, evolving, figuring out what you want to do in life. Maybe spend a summer volunteering abroad for those less fortunate. It’ll put your worries in perspective. A lot of successful people were nerds growing up. Make your own luck and envision your own success story. Don’t write anything down in case your bully reads it and makes fun of you. But keep it in mind. Work hard now so you can rest and relax with a cushy job later.

Review: How To Live In A Simulation

I guess what shocks me the most is how the author didn’t think to expand on the entertainment aspect of viewing Earth from afar to attempting communication, especially in the form of a Hail Mary or other last-resort style tactics. We send messages in bottles in the ocean to be retrieved even though it’s a one-in-a-million shot. Why not attempt communication? Especially if you don’t expect to hear anything back, this can definitely be done without looking crazy. The Seti Institute devotes its airwaves to attempting to find forms of extraterrestrial communication, and no one thinks they’re crazy. People pray to God all the time, and no one thinks they’re crazy. If the chances of us living in a simulation are so great, it would be bad investigative work to not form a plan just in case they’re listening. They might even be able to affect our lives in some small or large way.

Evolution of Music - Draft

I ended up with a list of music that was beneficial to society.

In progressive order:

1. Moby - Love of Strings (Official Audio) youtu.be/1k5lk-_lkBM via @YouTube

I decided to start somewhere in the realm of classical music that we can all agree is “good.” Don’t worry, I include more current music—music that also happens to be getting radio play (I try to judge music not by how popular or unpopular it is but by how good it is and -maybe- how “evolved” it is or sometimes what genre it is) later.

2. Cannons - Fire For You (Lyrics)   Never Have I Ever youtu.be/M24F32GSAlE via @YouTube

This is current and, I think, makes better use of that whole “music that moves you/makes you feel something.”

3. Tongue Tied by Grouplove youtu.be/JwB-iVAfnMo via @YouTube

This is just catchier and everyone knows that. It makes better use of what we know about what makes music appealing while also being “cool,” having that certain something, that je ne sais quoi, something that’s almost impossible to do in today’s world given the past historical evolution of “cool.” Maybe I’ll do a separate blog on that later. Maybe I don’t know enough to write about it. Maybe someone else has already written on it, though not in a place where important political ideas are normally discussed.

4. TV On The Radio - Happy Idiot Lyrics youtu.be/_XaA0fnW5D4 via @YouTube

I just like grunge and I think it’s more evolved than a lot of music that’s out there right now and popular. After listening to a lot of music that tries hard to be cool and tries to control your mood (-too- sexy, maybe?) it’s refreshing to hear grunge. It’s dismissively cool, the kind of cool you are when you know you’re cool.

5. Muse - Madness youtu.be/Ek0SgwWmF9w via @YouTube

This is an example of popular music churning out something that is both “cool,” “popular,” and “evolved.” Obviously iconic among those who care about EDM and whatever happened to everyone who started liking Muse because of Twilight.

6. Muse - Undisclosed Desires youtu.be/R8OOWcsFj0U via @YouTube

This song is just better than “Madness.” It’s older, but that just means it might have been ahead of its time.

7. Machine Gun Kelly ft. blackbear - my ex's best friend (Official Lyric Vi... youtu.be/bpmGuPhGE0Y via @YouTube

This is important historically because of the collaboration between hip-hip and rock. New standards of “cool” included.

8. Marshmello - Silence (Lyrics) ft. Khalid youtu.be/4oXgCJf4hf8 via @YouTube

Better song musically, and encourages spirituality and meditation. What more can you ask for in music to evolve? Quite a lot more, if you want to skip ahead to later.

9.

CHVRCHES - Empty Threat lyrics youtu.be/s_ySlu8OJCg via @YouTube

Yes, please take back your empty threat. I don’t care how, I don’t care why, just take it back. Promoting this song promotes that option coming up in people’s heads at any given moment.

How to Save a Life youtu.be/ae7AACP1-R0 via @YouTube

Literally teaches you how to save a life by talking to someone who might be suicidal or feeling depressed.

Interpol - The Heinrich Maneuver youtu.be/n3gJiQxkbWk via @YouTube

Okay, you’re probably going to save more lives by teaching everyone the Heimlich Maneuver.

Future Reflections youtu.be/KFKsoIdhkpQ via @YouTube #mgmt

Probably saves more lives telling people to think ahead. Don’t text and drive, don’t smoke and drive, etc. Also useful later when it comes to hints about...

The Killers - Read My Mind (lyrics) youtu.be/wKghBQbNxWA via @YouTube

Biofeedback! Well, it’s about mind-reading, but with biofeedback, you can basically train yourself to be a superhuman.

Hilary Duff - Wake Up (Official Video) - YouTube #keywords #wakeup #hilary #hillary

Especially helpful if you think you might be borderline okay to drive. Wake up, you’re not. Okay, also about “waking up” your cognition in ways that can’t be awoken without biofeedback. Researchers, what can you “wake up”?

Hilary Duff - Come Clean (HD 720p) youtu.be/GpPUk39S0Hk via @YouTube

Gotta support the economy. That’s what comes next in the evolution of music. If the music is evolved, support the artist and try another of their songs. This is one of her more popular hits. It was used as the theme song for Laguna Beach, one of the first reality TV shows. Laguna Beach happens to be good for shopping, if you have a little money to spend.

Rise Against - Audience Of One (Official Video) youtu.be/4MjLKjPc7q8 via @YouTube

Researchers, what can an audience do to augment a person into becoming more superhuman? Also important because it reminds us that we are constantly being surveilled.
